Oversees the medical aspect of the Developmental Preschool program in conjunction with the Medical Director. Provides daily nursing services as well as monitors for all aspects of health and safety.


  • Monitors all aspects of health and safety.

  • Provides daily nursing services, including medications, as prescribed by a licensed physician.

  • Is available for all health-related needs of the center, including sicknesses, accidents, incidents, etc.

  • Ensures that nursing services are completed in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Is available to parents for health-related questions and/or concerns. Involves director with any concerns that cannot be immediately/easily resolved.

  • Provides relevant health and safety training to staff as needed.

  • Monitors for potential abuse or neglect situations and follows the required TX DFPS reporting guidelines for any suspected issues.

  • May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.

  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.

  • Completes tasks in a timely manner.

Education/ Certification:

Current, unrestricted registered nursing license as approved by the Texas State Board of Nursing

Experience/ Knowledge required:

Pediatric nursing experience preferred.

Skills/ Abilities:

Knowledge of basic nursing services including tube feeds, catheterizations, diabetic management, seizure management, etc.

  •  Knowledge of common pediatric developmental conditions and pediatric emergency management.

  •  Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people. Feb 2018 2

  •  Must be able to work with children birth to age 18 and families who are at risk.

  •  Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

  •  Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of keyboarding, database,

    word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.

  •  Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.

  •  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company

    documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak

    effectively before groups of families or employees of organization.

  •  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure using whole numbers,

    common fractions, and decimals.

  •  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in

    written, oral, or diagram form.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to maintain regular and punctual attendance. The employee is required to complete tasks in a timely manner.
